The entertainment and arts world converges on Hong Kong every March, bringing exciting activities for both visitors and residents, making Hong Kong even more lively and boosting collaboration between different sectors and art forms.

This year, the Hong Kong SAR Government launched Art March, featuring a series of exciting events to enrich Hong Kong’s arts and cultural offerings and reinforce our city’s role as an East-meets-West centre for international cultural exchange.

The Hong Kong Trade Development Council's Entertainment Expo is one of the many events taking place this month.

The Expo’s 20th edition launched on 24 February and runs until 14 April, showcasing film, television, music and digital entertainment across 10 events.

Superstar actor, director and singer Leon Lai returns as the Expo’s ambassador.

The 10 Expo events include three founding projects – the Hong Kong International Film and TV Market (FILMART), Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) and Hong Kong Film Awards. The other seven projects include the debut Asia Video Summit and Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music).

The remaining events are the ifva Festival, Asian Film Awards, Hong Kong Asian Film Investment Forum (HAF), EntertainmentPulse and the Digital Entertainment Forum, all of which showcase Hong Kong’s status as Asia’s leading entertainment capital.

FILMART, Asia's leading film and television entertainment industry platform, promotes cooperation and business opportunities throughout the industry supply chain and strengthens Hong Kong’s status as a regional intellectual property trading centre.

The four-day event will feature a variety of activities, including press conferences, film showcases, seminars and screenings. It will also showcase the latest international productions and cutting-edge technologies, with a focus on virtual production, video streaming and AI-generated content. Creative IPs of exhibitors will be promoted during and after the event, with dedicated business referrals and business matching.

EntertainmentPulse runs concurrently with FILMART, creating a one-stop platform where entertainment industry players can track trends and explore opportunities in Asia and around the world. The forum has invited global industry leaders to address trending topics in-depth, including streaming platforms, Asian and European co-productions, as well as prospects for generative AI in entertainment.

Forum participants will also look into market prospects in Mainland China and ASEAN as well as the impact of diverse innovative technologies on entertainment industry production, providing participants with a roadmap to guide their way through the rapidly changing market.

The Hong Kong Association of Interactive Marketing is organising the Microfilm Production Support Scheme (Music), which aims to provide production funds, training, promotion and professional guidance to newly established production companies and their emerging directors.

The HKIFF office and Creative Arts Agency China (CAA China) are jointly organising the first HKIFF-CAA Chinese Film Programme (HCG) to support the development of Chinese genre film projects, aiming to select five shortlisted projects to participate in FILMART and HAF. CAA China will select two projects from the shortlisted projects and provide financial support for each to support the development of their scripts.

The Asia Video Industry Association (AVIA) is organising the Asia Video Summit, bringing together video industry professionals from across the spectrum, ranging from providers of pay TV services and streaming platforms to creators. Major issues they will discuss include broadcasting as well as prospects for pay TV and streaming media.
