Mexico Proposes New Safety Requirements for Electric Lifts

Interested parties may submit input by 27 July on a proposal by the Mexican government (PROY-NOM-053-SCFI-2017) to establish new mandatory safety requirements for electric lifts for people and cargo. The proposal includes classification provisions, technical specifications (including specifications regarding normal and emergency access, cars, doors, counterweights, ventilation, electric controls, etc.), as well as sampling and testing procedures. The new requirements would enter into force 60 days from the date of issuance of a final regulation in Mexico’s official journal.
