Argentina Adopts Measures to Facilitate Import Operations
13 October 2017
Argentina has adopted two measures aimed at reducing administrative burdens and facilitating import operations. Argentinean Customs has been given the flexibility to determine whether imports subject to AD duties need to undergo a “red channel” inspection, which involves enhanced oversight. Previously, all such imports were required to undergo such an inspection. Furthermore, the government has broadened the types of guarantees that importers must provide if the value of their goods is lower than any applicable criterion values. Previously, Argentinean regulations required importers with a registration no older than six months to provide any applicable guarantee in the form of cash, a bank guarantee or public debt, while importers with a registration older than six months had more guarantee options available to them.
