Peru Announces Battery of Measures to Improve Trade Competitiveness

The Peruvian government has announced 13 measures designed to improve the country’s international trade competitiveness, simplify administrative procedures and reduce logistics costs. These measures include, among others, incentives to take advantage of advance clearance, streamlined deferred release procedures aimed at reducing costs and import clearing times, a more efficient export process that will enable exporters that have been certified as an authorised economic operator to undergo customs inspections at their own facilities, increased flexibility for customs agents, improved regulations for international freight forwarders aimed at reducing informality, improvements to the operational procedures for courier shipments, the development of an electronic logistics platform within the single window for trade operations, and updating the regulatory framework to be able to further improve the single window for trade operations.
