The Ministry of Transport reviewed the Guiding Opinions on Promoting the Healthy Development of the Public Transport Smartcard and Accelerating Interoperability (Draft for Review) at its recent executive meeting, stressing that this is a practical step to implement the Guiding Opinions of the State Council on Giving Priority to the Development of Urban Public Transport.
The Ministry of Transport has identified the promotion of the public transport smartcard as one of its key tasks this year and taken this as one of the 10 concrete tasks to do to improve the people's livelihood. This is of great significance for better serving integrated transport, smart transport, green transport and safe transport and providing safer and more convenient and efficient transport services.
The Ministry of Transport will focus efforts on four tasks this year. First, do well the job of promulgating and implementing the relevant technical standards and specifications. Second, kick off as soon as possible interoperability projects in key areas and make use of the experience of selected units and regions to promote work in the entire area and the whole country. Interoperability projects should be launched in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta, the three eastern provinces and cities in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze Economic Belt before the end of the year. Third, uphold the leading role of market players and fully arouse the enthusiasm of public transport smartcard operating enterprises, passenger transport enterprises and other market entities. Fourth, give play to the guiding role of government policies and promote the unification of public transport smartcard technical standards and application systems.
