Fuyang is the most populous city in the Anhui Province. It lies in the northwestern part of Anhui and is designated as a regional hub in MOFCOM’s development plan (2015-2020) of distributive trade and logistics. The Beijing-Kowloon Railway, the Luohe-Fuyang Railway, the Qingdao-Fuyang Railway and the Fuyang-Huainan Railway intersect in the city.
Fuyang Xiguan Airport which is very close to Fuyang's downtown, provides daily flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Hefei and Guangzhou.
The city is rich in coal resources, providing stable electricity supply to industrial enterprises in Fuyang. Main industries in the city are coal mining and dressing, metallurgy, electricity production and supply, tobacco, chemicals and agricultural products processing.
Fuyang’s wine production is the second largest in Anhui. Anhui Golden Seed Group is a state-owned company specialising in the production of distilled liquor. Its subsidiary, Anhui Golden Seed Winery Co Ltd, is listed in Shanghai Stock Exchange since 1998.
